Car Break In

Friday morning started like any other weekday. Lying in bed, half awake, I kissed my husband goodbye. He shut the shut the door and was on his way to work. I rolled back over in attempt to sleep for another half hour.

I knew something was wrong when the door opened back up. I turned back over to see what he forgot, or what was wrong. Then he said, "Your morning just got a whole lot worse. Someone bashed the windows of your car with a baseball bat."

I hopped out of bed on the verge of tears, threw some clothes on, and ran out to the street. I had parked on the opposite side of the street that night because there had been no other spots on our side of the street when we had come home. As I ran up to the car I saw this:

I think the little window hurt me the most. Is one window not enough? And how could you look at Tinkerbell looking at you like that and then break her to bits?

These next pictures are totally blurry since I was still shaking so bad, but I had to show them... Glass was everywhere. On the drivers seat, in the bad seat, all over the passenger side, and all over the ground around the car.

The good news is that they only made away with an old iPod that I don't use anymore, has no charge, and is full of Disney songs, so they will be seriously disappointed when they are able to turn it on. They left my relatively new stereo alone, which was my biggest concern while running up to the car.

My mom came out and waiting with me for the window repair guy to show up. At about noon the neighbor down the street came out and realized that his car had been broken into too. They took a briefcase from his car.

The police finally showed up Saturday night to take a police report. I guess there have been a lot of break ins recently in Tujunga, just not in our area. It's just so scary to think of these people walking around outside while we sleep doing these things to us.

If I've learned anything from this experience its to keep your car clean. My car had a few things scattered around and our neighbors car was also messy. They looked in my car, figured there must be something good, knocked over the center compartment, and found my iPod. Please keep your car clean! It will save you a lot of headache one day!

While sitting on the sidewalk waiting for my mom to show up, this little flower made me smile. It's funny how little things can bring a smile to your face.

Note: In my hurry to be out with my car all morning I used my little point and shoot for all these pictures. They arn't anything amazing, the point is more just the pictures themselves.

Skateboards: The Park

So after practicing how to photograph quickly moving skateboarders last week, I couldn't help but bring the camera back out this week. This kids are seriously talented and extremely dedicated. They spend more time practicing their sport then most athletes I know.

This is my coworker. Nice sunglasses...

For the record, this kid skates as good as me. AKA not at all.

Do you ever have those moments when you turn around and have no clue what your friend is doing? Ya, I had one of those moments.

Now this kid is the best at the Razor scooter. Now this I can ride, but he can do things I've never dreamed of doing on my little scooter.

Did you know that skateboarders play Connect 4? They do.

And did you really think I could do a post without a ring shot?

I know this belongs to a skateboard. I have no clue what it is though. Just looked cool.

Kids: The Park

Today I'm going to give you a bit of insight into what my day job is. Well afternoon to be more exact. I get paid to hang out at the park, play with kids, watch skateboarders, color, and paint. I get asked on a regular basis if my job is just for school credit or if I'm volunteering. Nope. I get paid to do this.

I think this guy was showing off for the camera:

This kid is the cutest kid that comes to the park. He's almost 3 and really smart. And he has a mohawk. Can he be any cuter?

This was his smile for the camera. So precious....

And he's fierce when he plays ping pong. He never did hit the ball.

So that's my life in a nutshell. Want to know more? Leave a comment!

Olympian: Jason Lezak

So you know that guy from the Olympics, the one who beat France at the last second...

The one that caused this reaction from Michael Phelps...

And won Michael Phelps his last gold at the Beijing Olympics...

Ya, that guy. His name is Jason Lezak and he just so happens to swim for my (old) swim team, Rose Bowl Aquatics. And he was going to swim the 50 meter freestyle at the meet this past weekend, that I was working! So what do you think I did... well bring my big camera of course and ran (ok walked fast, I was a lifeguard after all)to the other side of the pool to snap some pictures, just like everyone else at the meet. But I have connections so I got the best spot ;)

I think he was smiling at me... but we'll never know.

He's at least 10 years older and 2 seconds faster (in the 50 free that's a lot!) then everyone he was swimming against.

I love the group of kids gathered right behind him!

I've never seen this many people lined up to see a race before, ever!

Needless to say, he won. To bad it wasn't a world record or anything. How cool would that be?

Go Rose Bowl!

Note: All Olympic photos not by me. I only wish I was there. Instead I was on my honeymoon ;)

Friends: Knottie GTG

It all started last year in January. Doug popped the question and I said yes (or I said of course, we still arn't sure!). Then we were off and running planning a wedding in 8 months. The Knot Boards were the best thing that could of happened to me. The girls there were so supportive and have the best ideas. They are super creative and ridiculously sweet. And they are so fun to hang out with in real life. This weekend I got the chance to meet up with all the new brides (and one married hag like me!), chat, and eat yummy food at Granville Cafe in Glendale.

I usually hate anything with sweet potato or yam in it's name, but these sweet potato fries are super yummy!
